OpenAI Denies Misusing Apple's Trade Secrets
OpenAI has asked a US court to dismiss Apple's lawsuit, which alleges the company and two former Apple employees misused the iPhone maker's trade secrets to accelerate OpenAI's push into consumer hardware.
In its motion, OpenAI argued it has no interest in, or need for, Apple's confidential information. The company said it is developing its own products and accused Apple of trying to use the courts to prevent employees from joining rivals.
OpenAI also defended its recruitment of former Apple employees, saying it seeks to hire the best engineers, developers and designers, many of whom chose to leave Apple voluntarily to work on its projects.
Apple filed the lawsuit in July, alleging OpenAI deliberately obtained and used confidential information through former employees, recruitment practices and supplier relationships to speed up its entry into the consumer hardware market.
