Thailand School Shooting Leaves Seven Dead

At least seven people were killed and 15 others were injured in a shooting at a school on the northwestern outskirts of Bangkok on Friday. The dead include the suspected gunman, a student at the school, as well as students and teachers, according to police.

The shooting took place at Debsirin Nonthaburi School, which had about 3,100 students and 147 teachers during the 2025 academic year.

An 18-year-old student told Reuters he initially thought the gunfire was the sound of firecrackers. Emergency responders treated victims with injuries to their backs, chests and arms. They found one teacher dead on an upper floor and another teacher seriously injured in a separate classroom.

Police said the attacker had shot and killed his grandparents at their home before going to the school. The student fired 26 rounds, and officers recovered another 34 bullets at the scene.

The attack was the second school shooting in Thailand this year. In February, a teacher was killed and a student injured in a shooting at a school in the country's south.

Thailand has experienced several deadly mass shootings in recent years. In 2022, a former police officer killed 36 people, including 22 children, in an attack on a childcare center.
