Tate Brothers Seek Bail in US Extradition Case

Andrew and Tristan Tate are asking a US court to release them on bail from a Miami jail while proceedings regarding their possible extradition to the United Kingdom continue. Their lawyers argue that, given the brothers' high profile, it is virtually impossible for them to flee without being noticed.

They are therefore proposing that the brothers surrender their passports and be subject to electronic monitoring.

The Tate brothers were arrested on 18 July. The United Kingdom seeks to prosecute them on charges of rape, assault, and aiding and abetting human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

The brothers, who hold both US and British citizenship, deny all charges. However, US prosecutors have previously warned of a flight risk and a potential danger to the public.

The court is scheduled to rule on the bail request on 13 August. The extradition proceedings themselves could drag on for several months.
