German Right-Wing Influencer Seeks US Grant

German right-wing influencer Naomi Seibt, whose social media posts have repeatedly been amplified by Elon Musk, has applied for US government funding to establish a new political media network, according to the German business daily Handelsblatt.

The 25-year-old, who describes herself as a libertarian and has publicly supported the Alternative for Germany (AfD), is seeking funding through a US State Department program, the newspaper reported. The initiative supports European organizations working on issues including freedom of expression, national sovereignty and the effects of migration.

No decision on the application has yet been made. The US State Department did not immediately comment on Seibt’s application, according to the report.

Under the proposed Alliance for Western Freedom project, Seibt plans to establish a social media channel and work with lawyers specializing in freedom of expression as well as media and research organizations.

Seibt first attracted international attention for challenging mainstream positions on climate change and later became a prominent right-wing voice on X. Musk has repeatedly amplified her posts and Seibt has said the two also communicated privately.

The activist applied for political asylum in the US in October 2025, claiming that she faced political persecution, surveillance and threats in Germany. Her asylum claim has not yet been decided.
