Christian Message Costs UK Driver Car Insurance

British driver Simeon Chandra lost his car insurance after his insurer refused to accept the words “Jesus loves you” displayed on his vehicle. The 35-year-old claims the decision infringes on his freedom of religious expression, according to the Christian Post.

Chandra had used green tape to create Christian messages on his Nissan Pixo. He informed his insurer, GoSkippy, of the messages and sent photographs of the vehicle. The company subsequently told him that its insurance team had not approved the modification and said coverage could continue only if he removed the messages and provided an updated photograph of the car.

According to the Christian Legal Centre, which is supporting Chandra, the insurer did not provide a detailed explanation for its decision. Chandra said he was shocked by the response and stressed that his message was neither political nor hateful or commercial, but simply an expression of Christian faith and hope.

Chandra is now consulting lawyers about his next steps, including possible legal action. He also wants to restore the messages to his car.
