Italian Police Recover Stolen Renoir, Cézanne and Matisse

Italian authorities have recovered three rare paintings by Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne and Henri Matisse that were stolen in March from a private museum near Parma.

The works were found during searches ordered by the prosecutor's office, but police have not yet disclosed further details, and the investigation is ongoing, according to ABC News.

The most valuable of the three is Cézanne's Still Life with Cherries, valued at €6m ($6.9m). Renoir's painting Fish is valued at approximately €3m ($3.5m), while Matisse's Odalisque on the Terrace has been valued at €20,000 ($23,000).

The theft took place on the night of 22–23 March at the Magnani Rocca Foundation, about 20 km from Parma. The perpetrators forced open the front door, and according to local media, it took them less than three minutes to steal the paintings. The museum believes a well-organized group was behind the theft.
