Tehran Says Military Doctrine Is Shifting to Offense
A senior Iranian official told Reuters on Monday that Tehran would launch a “timely and precise” military strike to break the US naval blockade if the US does not fully implement the temporary peace agreement within a few weeks.
Diplomatic efforts to bring both countries back to the June negotiations have stalled in recent weeks.
The Iranian foreign minister confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until Washington fulfills its commitments. On the other hand, the US Treasury secretary warned Tehran of unprecedented economic isolation.
International mediators are set to convey details regarding the exact deadline of Iran’s ultimatum to the US and other countries in the region.
According to an official, Iran is shifting its doctrine from defensive to offensive as it loses confidence in diplomacy and claims that the US is not serious about a ceasefire.
