Sword Attack at Swedish School Injures Several

The Swedish town of Fagersta was the scene of a serious incident in which a man armed with a sword broke into a local school and injured several people, according to SVT Nyheter. Police and emergency responders were called to the scene at 2:06 p.m. School officials said police have apprehended the suspect.

Ambulances, a police helicopter and a special response team are operating at the scene. Several nearby schools have locked their students inside the buildings for safety reasons.

Police spokesperson Pelle Vamstad confirmed the large-scale operation but has not yet provided further details.

Swedish Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer said the government is closely monitoring the situation and remains in close contact with police.
