Russia Puts German Journalist on Wanted List

The Russian Ministry of the Interior has added Michael Martens, a German journalist for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, to its database of wanted persons. This follows criminal charges of inciting hatred or enmity, for which he faces up to six years in prison, according to TASS.

Moscow's action follows remarks made by the German editor on 8 August at a press conference in Belgrade attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. Martens asked how European countries could help "kill more Russians".

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called his remarks unacceptable.
