Macron Promises Zelensky Faster Arms Deliveries

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron the shortage of air defense systems that Ukraine is facing during the ongoing war. According to Zelensky, Macron promised to expedite deliveries of the latest French military equipment and missiles.

The Ukrainian president did not disclose specific quantities or timelines. Zelensky also thanked France for confirming its readiness to grant licenses for missile production, which could help Kyiv strengthen its own manufacturing capabilities.

Ukraine is also currently awaiting delivery of the new Italian-French SAMP/T-NG air defense system. According to experts, it should be capable of shooting down ballistic missiles as well, which could significantly strengthen the protection of Ukrainian airspace.

At the same time, however, the timeline for its deployment remains uncertain. European diplomats have previously said the system will likely not reach Ukraine until next spring.
