Second Suspect Detained After Swedish School Sword Attack
Swedish prosecutors have detained a second man in connection with last week’s sword attack at a high school in Fagersta, which left a 17-year-old girl dead and three other people injured.
Police arrested an 18-year-old man on Friday on suspicion of carrying out the attack at Brinellgymnasiet and launched an investigation.
A second suspect has now been detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting murder and attempted murder. Prosecutors will decide on Thursday whether to ask a court to remand him in custody. Authorities have not disclosed how he allegedly assisted the attacker.
Police are also investigating a possible motive. According to a source cited by Reuters, investigators are examining whether the 18-year-old suspect was involved in online communities that promote violence in schools.
