Taxi Driver Attacked in Poland over Belarusian Accent

A drunk 23-year-old man attacked a 66-year-old taxi driver in Wroclaw, Poland, last Wednesday (19 August). The aggressive passenger first insulted the driver, then struck him in the head with a glass bottle. According to TVN24, as reported by the Onet news portal, the attack was triggered by the driver's Eastern European accent, as he is a resident of Belarus.

The driver immediately stopped the car and fled the scene. He then reported the attack to police, who tracked down and arrested the assailant with the help of dashcam footage from passing cars.

The young man faces charges of assault motivated by the victim's nationality. If found guilty, he faces up to five years in prison.
