US Seizes Chinese Domains Linked to NASA, Senate Attacks
The United States confirmed on Wednesday that it had disrupted a large-scale Chinese cyber operation. The operation targeted hacking infrastructure that, since 2018, had infiltrated the networks of the US Department of Justice, NASA, the Federal Reserve, the US Senate and other government agencies and businesses.
The US Department of Justice seized key domains used by the hacking platforms "QScan" and "QTRouter". According to investigators, the platforms are operated by the Chinese private company Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company.
Its clients include Chinese civilian intelligence services, the ministry of state security and the Chinese military.
Analysts say China has long used private contractors to carry out offensive cyber operations on behalf of the state. The Chinese embassy in Washington did not immediately comment on the case, and Beijing regularly denies responsibility for such hacking attacks.
