Hungary Officially Labels Moscow's Actions as a Threat

The Hungarian government issued new policy guidelines on Tuesday formally condemning Russia's military aggression and expressing support for Ukraine's territorial integrity. The document describes Moscow's actions as a threat to Hungary, Europe and the global order, according to Politico.

The guidelines, signed by Prime Minister Peter Magyar, set out foreign policy priorities ahead of the upcoming UN General Assembly. The document recognizes Kyiv's right to self-defense and calls for a sustainable peace.

Budapest has already lifted its veto on EU arms financing for Ukraine, secured the unfreezing of funds from Brussels and announced a review of the Paks II nuclear agreement with Rosatom.

However, Hungary continues to oppose Ukraine's rapid accession to the European Union. Foreign Minister Anita Orban said Hungarian citizens will decide on Ukraine's potential membership in the bloc in a referendum.
