Rocky Horror Actor Tim Curry Dies at 80

British actor and singer Tim Curry, best known for his role in the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, has died aged 80. His manager said Curry died peacefully at his Los Angeles home on Tuesday. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed, although he had been in poor health for some time.

Curry rose to fame as Dr Frank N. Furter in the 1975 musical horror comedy The Rocky Horror Picture Show, his film debut. The movie was not an immediate success but later developed a devoted cult following.

He also appeared in films including Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, The Three Musketeers, Charlie’s Angels, Clue, Legend and Annie, and was frequently cast as a villain. Curry also had a successful stage career, receiving three Tony Award nominations for his Broadway performances.

Known for his distinctive baritone voice, Curry was also a prolific voice actor. In 1991, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for his work on the animated series Peter Pan & the Pirates.

Curry suffered a stroke in 2012 and subsequently used a wheelchair, significantly reducing his workload. He returned to the big screen in 2024 with an appearance in the horror film Stream. Curry never married and had no children.
