Florida plans to abolish all mandatory vaccinations, including for children in schools

Florida's top health official, Joseph Ladapo, has announced plans to abolish all mandatory vaccinations. Ladapo is known for his opposition to certain vaccines, particularly those against COVID-19. This was reported by the Washington Post on Wednesday.

The repeal would also affect the vaccination of children starting school, which was previously required by state law. Most US states require vaccination against measles, mumps, and other diseases for school enrollment.

Both in the US and in Europe, cases of measles are increasing in areas with lower vaccination coverage. In 2024, the WHO recorded a 45 percent increase in measles cases in Europe. A similar trend can be observed in the US.

The proposal still has to go through the legislative process.
