Medvedev: Russia could seize British property and Ukrainian territory
Russia has threatened retaliation after London used around $1.3 billion from frozen Russian assets to finance weapons for Ukraine.
According to former President Dmitry Medvedev, Moscow could respond by seizing not only more Ukrainian territory, but also British property on Russian soil.
On Telegram, he stated that Russia plans to recover assets “in kind” — that is, through territory and property — “given the impossibility of judicial enforcement.”
At the same time, he warned that any attempt by the West to confiscate Russian funds could lead to reciprocal measures against British assets in Russia.
The comments come at a time of further escalating tensions between Russia and the West.
The announcement by British Defense Secretary John Healy about the use of frozen assets has heightened Moscow's attention, which considers these steps “illegal” and provocative.
