Italy investigates scandal: Meloni among victims of fake porn

Italian police have launched an investigation into a scandal involving a pornographic website that focused on female politicians and journalists, including Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Politico reports.

The site, which had more than 700,000 subscribers, featured manipulated photos of women downloaded from social networks or OnlyFans without their consent. The images were edited to make them appear sexually explicit.

Dozens of women were victims, they were mocked and even confronted with ransom demands. Meloni described the whole case as “disturbing and disgusting” and is calling for harsh penalties for the perpetrators.

The investigation is also expanding to other platforms, including the Facebook group “Mia Moglie,” where men shared intimate photos of their partners.

Senator Mara Carfagna is proposing new laws that would strengthen the protection of women and require users to register their real identities. Italy has been punishing so-called revenge porn since 2019.
