The British government has a new deputy prime minister.
David Lammy has been appointed as the new Deputy Prime Minister of the British government after Angela Rayner unexpectedly resigned due to an error in her tax return, BBC News reported.
Rayner resigned just hours before Lammy's appointment. Her resignation was linked to public criticism that she had not disclosed all her tax information during her time in office. David Lammy, who serves as Foreign Secretary, thus becomes one of the most important members of the British cabinet.
It is not yet known whether Rayner will continue to serve in another government office or withdraw from political life.
