China is taking more sanctioned gas from Russia. The tanker Voskhod LNG has already docked

The second known tanker carrying gas from Russia's Arctic LNG 2 project has arrived in China. Just a few days after Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Beijing

The Russian-flagged vessel Voskhod LNG docked at the Chinese port of Tieshan with a cargo of 150,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas, which was loaded in mid-July at an Arctic facility in northern Siberia.

This is the second time that sanctioned Russian gas from this project has reached China, following the tanker Arctic Mulan, which docked at the end of August. The Arctic LNG 2 project was launched in December 2023, but deliveries are stalling due to sanctions and a lack of suitable ships.

Novatek, which owns most of the project, originally planned an annual production of nearly 20 million tons.

Despite the complications, some tankers continue to transport gas via the Northeast Passage, while others are currently anchored in the Kamchatka region and the South China Sea.
