Støre after election victory: Norway remains a reliable energy supplier
After his re-election, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre stated that the country would continue to develop new oil and gas reserves and remain a reliable energy supplier for Europe.
Norway currently covers around one-third of Europe's gas supply.
The Labour Party was able to defend its mandate in elections that were dominated by rising living costs and the conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
Despite strong results for the right, the center-left alliance of five parties – known as the “Tutti Frutti Coalition” – remains in power.
Støre emphasized that the result shows that social democracy still has support even in difficult times. At the same time, he announced that, in addition to energy development, he would focus more on technological innovation, emission reductions, and climate targets.
Another important factor for the government remains the management of the sovereign wealth fund, which has a volume of around €1.87 trillion.
