WSJ: US authorities collect data on vaccine damage during pregnancy

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, leading US health officials under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are collecting examples of possible harmful effects of COVID-19 vaccines in pregnant women in order to make them available to the public.

FDA Commissioner Marty Makary and the agency's top vaccine and biologics official, Vinay Prasad, are reportedly considering relaxing certain privacy regulations that have previously restricted access to data on vaccinations in pregnant women.

This could make it possible to disclose more detailed information about potential risks that officials believe may be associated with the vaccines.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) did not initially respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

The developments come at a time when Kennedy has appointed new members to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. This committee makes recommendations on the use of vaccines. It is scheduled to meet on September 18 to discuss vaccinations against hepatitis B, the combined MMRV vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
