Trump: Drone violation of Polish airspace may have been an accident
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the violation of Polish airspace by drones may have been an accident.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night during a Russian air strike on Ukraine. Polish radars detected 19 objects, some of which were shot down as potential threats. The Interior Ministry said that debris from 16 drones had been found so far.
“It could have been a mistake,” Trump said, according to AFP, after speaking with Polish President Karol Nawrocki about the incident. Nawrocki said Poland was in a hybrid war with Russia and warned against allegedly false claims from Moscow that the drones that entered Poland came from Ukraine.
“Regardless, I'm not happy with anything related to the whole situation (regarding the war in Ukraine, editor's note), but I hope it comes to an end,” Trump added.
