Ukraine strikes one of Russia's largest oil refineries

Ukrainian drones attacked the oil refinery in Kirishi in northwestern Russia, one of the largest in the country. According to Russian authorities, a fire broke out when debris from a downed drone fell on the site.

The Ukrainian drone command confirmed the attack on the refinery and said it had carried out a “successful strike.”

Russia is the world's second-largest oil exporter.

The governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drosdenko, said that three Ukrainian drones had been destroyed in the Kirishi region and that the fire caused by falling debris had been extinguished. No one was injured.

The refinery in Kirishi processes around 17.7 million tons of crude oil per year (355,000 barrels per day), which accounts for 6.4 percent of the country's total production.
