Ukrainian commander-in-chief dismisses officers after territorial losses

The top Ukrainian military commander, Oleksandr Syrskyj, has dismissed two high-ranking officers after the army lost territory in their areas of responsibility. This was reported by Ukrainian media on Monday, citing military sources.

According to Ukrajinska Prawda, the commanders of the 17th and 20th Army Corps were affected. General Volodymyr Silenko led the 17th Corps in the Zaporizhzhya region, where Ukraine is said to have lost at least one village on the Dnipro River. General Maksym Kituhin was stationed on the border between the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, in the area of operations where Russia recently captured several villages. According to Interfax Ukraine, both officers were transferred to other posts.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday that its troops had captured the village of Olhivske in Zaporizhzhia. An official loyal to Moscow spoke of a breakthrough in Ukrainian defense lines and the capture of around 30 square kilometers.

While Moscow continues its offensive towards Pokrovsk, Ukraine reported partial successes near Dobropillia. A local commander emphasized that the Russian advance at Pokrovsk had been stopped.
