Trump approves first arms deliveries to Ukraine, financed by NATO allies

The Trump administration has approved the first deliveries of American weapons to Ukraine as part of the NATO-funded PURL initiative. Two deliveries worth $500 million each have been approved, with the weapons likely to be delivered in the near future.

Ukraine has already received pledges of financial support from countries such as Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark, raising a total of over $2 billion.

President Trump simultaneously called on Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement, stating that there was “great hatred” between them. Zelensky then called on Trump to take a clear position on sanctions against Russia and security guarantees for Ukraine.

He emphasized that the United States has sufficient resources to support Ukraine and expects a strong package of sanctions that would complement the 18 packages already adopted by the European Union.
