European Parliament opens permanent office in Kyiv, Metsola announces
The European Parliament (EP) will open a permanent liaison office in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv in the coming days, EP President Roberta Metsola announced during her speech to the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada. This was reported on the Verkhovna Rada's official website.
“This week, to further strengthen our cooperation, we are opening a permanent office of the European Parliament here in Kyiv so that we can be present in Ukraine and work with you on a daily basis. That was our promise to you, and we are now delivering on it,” Metsola said.
She thus became the first foreign representative to speak live during a session of the Verkhovna Rada since the start of the large-scale invasion.
At the same time, Kyiv resumed online broadcasts of its plenary sessions.
