Frenchman sends 600 condoms to members of parliament – allegedly so they don't reproduce

Members of the French National Assembly received an unexpected package last week—600 condoms. The sender was Pierre Guiraud, known for his provocative actions, Franceinfo reported.

In his own words, his gesture was intended to express his dissatisfaction with the state of parliamentary debates. “The level of the Assembly continues to decline with each legislative period. We are in decline,” he explained.

He sharply criticized both the atmosphere and the content of the speeches in the National Assembly. He was disturbed by the fact that members insult each other, shout at each other, or refuse to shake hands.

He also condemned extreme statements from various political camps – from accusations of murder against the police to attacks on migrants to ecological demands to stop eating meat. “This is ridiculous and has no place here,” he added.

Guiraud, who has run unsuccessfully for election several times in the past and modeled his style on the satirist Coluche, has already carried out several similar actions. In 2019, he sent an ex-lawmaker pajamas in prison, and in 2016, he symbolically “buried” socialism in front of the former headquarters of the Socialist Party in Paris.
