French general warns: Space is a dangerous battlefield

France warns of a drastic increase in hostile activities in space. According to General Vincent Chusseau, head of the Space Command, practices such as jamming signals, lasers, and cyberattacks have expanded since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Space has thus become a place of increasingly open confrontation, with Russia testing new methods of jamming satellites, according to Chusseau.

Moscow rejects these accusations and claims to be against weapons in space.

Other countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, and Germany are also strengthening their defense capabilities.

The British speak of a rapidly growing sophistication of threats, while the Canadians point to more than 200 anti-satellite weapons.

Germany plans to have its own defense satellite infrastructure in place by 2029. France, meanwhile, is focusing on strengthening low Earth orbit, particularly in connection with networks such as Starlink and OneWeb.

Chusseau acknowledged that, in addition to defense, Paris is also working on capabilities that would enable it to take active action against an adversary.
