US federal prosecutor resigns – investigated Trump's critics

This happened shortly after Trump publicly stated that he had lost confidence in him and was calling for his dismissal.

This was reported by the Reuters news agency, citing an internal email and trusted sources.
“That evening, I submitted my resignation as acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia,” Siebert wrote to his colleagues. He thanked them for their dedication and pursuit of justice.

According to the sources, Siebert had repeatedly expressed doubts about the evidence in the cases against New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI Director James Comey.

James, who led a civil case against Trump and secured a large fine, rejects the allegations and speaks of retaliation.

According to Reuters, Trump turned away from Siebert after his nomination was supported by two Democratic senators.

His resignation is part of broader pressure from the White House on the Justice Department to remove individuals considered disloyal.
