Trump: Murdoch and others will be part of the agreement for the US to acquire TikTok
Lachlan Murdoch, son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, as well as Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle, and Michael Dell, CEO of Dell, are among the US entrepreneurs involved in the planned agreement on the future of the social network TikTok, US President Donald Trump said.
According to CNBC, the agreement is intended to ensure that the United States gains majority control over TikTok's operations in the US, including access to the app's algorithm and data.
The United States has long sought to take control of TikTok, fearing that the Chinese government could potentially use American users' data. President Trump expressed optimism about the progress of negotiations with the Chinese side, although a final agreement has not yet been confirmed by China.
Lachlan Murdoch is known for his conservative views and recently consolidated his control over his family's media empire, including Fox News. Ellison and Dell are prominent US entrepreneurs with a reputation for being patriots of their country.
This agreement could give US companies influence over one of the most popular social platforms in the US, with 170 million users, while addressing national security concerns.
