Important crossing between the West Bank and Jordan reopened

The Allenby Crossing, the only gateway between the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Jordan, has been reopened to passenger traffic. This was announced on Monday by a spokesperson for the Israeli Airport Authority, which manages the land border.

The crossing is also the most important route for goods traffic between Jordan and the West Bank.

Israel officially closed the crossing on September 19, one day after a Jordanian truck driver opened fire and killed two Israeli soldiers.

Two other crossings between Israel and Jordan were also closed, while the southern Rabin Crossing reportedly remained open only to employees of services responsible for maintaining humanitarian aid.
