Zaluzhnyi: The price of the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region was too high

On Wednesday, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and current Ukrainian ambassador to the UK, criticized last year's invasion of Russia by Kiev's armed forces and the subsequent occupation of part of the Kursk region. In his opinion, the price of this offensive was too high.

“I don't know the price of these actions, but it is obvious that it was too high,” Zaluzhny told the internet portal Dzerkalo tyzhnya. In his opinion, the Russian armed forces not only managed to stop the Ukrainian invasion, but also later gained a tactical advantage.

Ukrainian troops invaded the Kursk region in August last year. However, Russia almost completely pushed the Ukrainians out of the region in the first half of this year. Zaluzhnyi pointed out that the newly formed units at that time did not even have a minimum level of equipment or were insufficiently armed.

According to him, the Russians built extensive defensive lines that were well constructed and deeply staggered. However, their decisive advantage was drones.

“Under such conditions, any concentration of armored vehicles or soldiers was inevitably detected – both at the front and in the rear,” Zaluzhnyi summarized.
