She accused Biden of harassment, Putin granted her Russian citizenship
Russian President Vladimir Putin has granted citizenship to Tara Reade, Joe Biden's former assistant. This was reported by Kyiv Independent.
Reade worked in his Senate office in the early 1990s and accused him of sexual harassment in 2020 during Biden's presidential campaign.
The former president of the United States denied the allegations, and authorities never officially investigated him. Reade moved to Russia in 2023. She said she did not feel safe in the US and applied for citizenship.
In Moscow, she appeared in pro-Kremlin media, where she apologized for Washington's “aggressive stance” toward Russia and criticized the Biden administration's support for Ukraine during the Russian invasion.
Under the usual rules, foreigners must live legally in Russia for five years before they can apply for citizenship. However, Putin has introduced exceptions during the war in Ukraine that allow citizenship to be granted on “moral grounds” or through an expedited process for those who enlist in military service.
