Ukraine: Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant without power – Kyiv blames Russia

According to Ukraine, the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, has been without power for four days. Kyiv blamed Russia for this; Moscow has occupied the power plant since the invasion began in February 2022.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha called on the international community on Platform X to put pressure on Moscow and end the “nuclear gamble.”

According to a proposal in the US peace plan, Ukraine would regain control of the power plant, but the United States would take over its operation.

Electricity production would be divided between Kyiv and Moscow. However, Russia rejects such a plan – Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow had not received an official offer and would not accept it.

According to Greenpeace, Russia is likely preparing to connect the power plant to its own grid via a new line in the occupied territory.
