Putin signs decree on autumn conscription of 135,000 Russians

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on autumn conscription. According to the decree, a total of 135,000 Russian citizens aged between 18 and 30 who are not in the reserves and are liable for military service will be called up for military service between October 1 and December 31, 2025. This was reported by the Russian news agency TASS.

The decree also provides for the discharge of soldiers, sailors, and officers whose military service has expired.

The government, regional authorities, and conscription commissions are tasked with ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to organize the conscription. Ministers, heads of services, and other federal authorities must also ensure the conscription of citizens employed in federal organizations and enterprises.

According to Russian representatives, the plan is to deploy the newly conscripted conscripts exclusively within the territory of the Russian Federation. Their participation in the fighting in Ukraine has been publicly ruled out.
