A Ukrainian national was arrested in Poland for sabotaging Nord Stream

Polish police have arrested Ukrainian diver Volodymyr Z., whom Germany suspects of involvement in the explosions of the Nord Stream pipelines in 2022. The incident in the Baltic Sea disrupted a large part of Russian gas supplies to Europe and has not yet been officially acknowledged by anyone.

Volodymyr Z. was arrested near Warsaw. However, according to his lawyer, he intends to fight extradition to Germany, citing the ongoing war in Ukraine and Gazprom's ties to the Russian military.

Another Ukrainian was arrested in Italy in August in connection with the attack.

Although Sweden and Denmark have concluded their investigations without naming any perpetrators, German media report that Volodymyr Z. was part of the team that planted the explosives.

The incident further exacerbated tensions between the West and Russia. Moscow blames the US, the UK, and Ukraine for the attack, but they reject the accusations.
