Renowned primatologist Jane Goodall has passed away

Renowned British biologist Jane Goodall, who researched primates, particularly chimpanzees, and campaigned for the protection of wild animals, died on Wednesday at the age of 91.

Goodall was the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and was deeply committed to issues of nature conservation and good living conditions for animals. In April 2002, she was appointed UN Messenger of Peace.

She died in California during her lecture tour of the United States, according to the institute named after her.
