UK announces tougher fight against anti-Semitism after attack outside synagogue

Following the bloody attack outside a synagogue in Manchester, in which two men were killed, British Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced that the government would step up its fight against anti-Semitism, reports the Times of Israel news portal.

The incident occurred during Yom Kippur, the holiest Jewish holiday.

According to authorities, a 35-year-old British man of Syrian origin named Jihad al-Shami attacked 53-year-old Adrian Daulby and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz first with a knife and then with a car outside the Heaton Park Synagogue.

Mahmood emphasized in an interview with Times Radio that the government would “redouble” its efforts and review all measures in the fight against hatred toward the Jewish community.
