According to von der Leyen, startups need a unified market, not different regulations in different EU countries

The European Union is preparing legislation that would make it much easier for start-ups to do business within the Union. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced at the Italian Technology Week in Turin that she would present the so-called “28th regime” for start-ups next year.

This new framework is intended to replace the current 27 national regulations, which are complicated for young companies and often hinder their expansion.

“All too often, it is easier to expand to another continent than within Europe,” explained the EU Commissioner.

This move is part of a broader EU strategy to strengthen the technological environment. It also includes the multi-billion-euro Scaleup Europe Fund, which aims to promote the development of innovative companies, and the “AI first” strategy, which aims to accelerate the implementation of artificial intelligence in industry and services.
