Russia strikes passenger train in Sumy region, dozens reported injured

A Russian drone attack struck a passenger train in the northern Ukrainian region of Sumy on Saturday, injuring dozens of people, authorities said.

“A brutal Russian drone attack on the train station in Shostka, Sumy region,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram, posting a video of a destroyed, burning train car and other cars with shattered windows.

According to regional governor Oleh Hryhorov, the attack hit a train traveling from Shostka to the capital Kyiv.

The head of the local district administration, Oksana Tarasiuk, told Ukrainian public radio that about 30 people had been injured. No fatalities were reported immediately after the attack.

“The Russians could not have been unaware that they were attacking civilians. This is terrorism, which the world must not ignore,” Zelensky emphasized.
