Trump claims Hamas must act quickly – “otherwise all is lost”
Donald Trump called on Hamas to immediately accept his peace plan for the Gaza Strip. In a statement, he warned that “all would be lost” if no agreement was reached by Sunday evening.
The movement has already signaled its willingness to release all hostages and accept the administration of Gaza by a technocratic government with the support of Arab states, but rejects disarmament without an end to the Israeli occupation.
Israel is simultaneously preparing for the first phase of the plan's implementation, but key issues – such as the future of Hamas, its disarmament and the presence of the IDF in Gaza – remain unresolved. According to the UN, the fighting since October 2023 has claimed the lives of more than 66,000 people, mostly civilians, and the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen.
While some international leaders support the talks, Trump is putting Hamas under massive time pressure. The US, Egypt, and Qatar are pushing for a quick resolution.
