Ukraine has accused Moscow of using tankers for military operations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of using oil tankers not only to finance the war, but also for intelligence and sabotage operations. He announced this after a meeting with the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service, which he reported on the Telegram platform.

According to Zelensky, Russia is using tankers to obtain strategic information and undermine security in international waters. He added that Ukraine is working with its allies on this issue and that it is possible to stop these activities.

Zelensky did not go into detail in his statement, but pointed out that this was a new method used by Moscow to combine economic and military objectives.

According to media reports, Ukrainian and Western intelligence services have been monitoring Russian naval operations for some time that could be linked to surveillance of infrastructure and acts of sabotage in the Black Sea or the Baltic Sea region.
