Ukrainians attack near Dobropillia, but losses are heavy, says Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian army is achieving success in its counteroffensive near Dobropillia in the Donetsk region, even though it is suffering heavy losses.
In his evening address, he also emphasized active defense in other regions such as Kupiansk and Novopavlivka, where intense fighting is taking place. The situation is difficult, but in his opinion, the defensive operations are proving effective.
These statements contrast with Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech on Tuesday, in which he claimed that the Russian army had the strategic initiative and that Ukrainian forces were retreating on all fronts.
Russia also reported the capture of the village of Novohryhorivka and the recapture of nearly 5,000 km² of territory.
However, the fighting claimed civilian casualties on both sides, with attacks in Kherson and the Sumy region killing at least six people.
