Ideology over science? Sex reassignment surgery in children is based on dubious evidence

Internal emails from executives at the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPAT) raise serious doubts about the scientific validity of the self-proclaimed treatment of children with gender dysphoria, reports Life Site News.

Emails released under the Freedom of Information Act show that key figures at the San Francisco clinic, Maddie Deutsch and Stephen Rosenthal, were aware of the unsubstantiated practices in the rapidly growing child conversion industry.

Rosenthal admitted that the clinic was unable to cope with the rush of patients, as it was expecting more than 230 children.

According to the findings, the clinic also administered puberty blockers to children as young as nine, even though the drug is not approved for the treatment of gender dysphoria.

According to the non-profit organization Judicial Watch, which obtained the release of the emails through legal action, this is proof that scientific standards are being ignored in California in favor of ideology.
