Macron calls for peace in Ukraine and warns Russia of the consequences

After talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron called for an end to the war in Ukraine.

Referring to the agreement on the release of hostages in Gaza, which he described as a spark of hope for the Middle East, he emphasized that Ukraine also needs a similar peace initiative.

Macron criticized the ongoing war and warned that Moscow would have to face the consequences if it refused to negotiate. At the same time, he condemned the attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, which he said were targeting the civilian population, especially with winter approaching.

France is working with its partners to ensure and restore basic services, the president said.
Macron added that his country stands firmly alongside Ukraine and is actively participating in the international “coalition of the willing.”
