The EU has introduced a new border control system that replaces passport stamps

Since Sunday, the European Union has been introducing a new EES system that electronically registers the entry and exit of third-country nationals. Travelers must undergo biometric checks when entering the Schengen area—a passport scan, fingerprints, and a photo.

The system will be tested for six months and will completely replace manual passport checks by April 2026.

The innovation is intended to increase security, prevent visa abuse, and curb illegal migration.

At the border with Serbia, the new process ran smoothly, with the group's clearance taking only a few minutes. In the UK, the system is being introduced gradually – currently only for freight traffic and selected travelers.
