Netanyahu discussed developments following the incidents in the Gaza Strip with Witkoff and Kushner
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on Monday with Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, and Jared Kushner, advisor and son-in-law of the US president. The meeting followed armed incidents over the weekend that threatened the US-brokered ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, the talks focused on developments and the current situation in the region. US Vice President JD Vance will also travel to Israel and hold a meeting with Netanyahu.
Since the start of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, at least 97 Palestinians have been killed in attacks and exchanges of fire in the Gaza Strip, according to local authorities. Israel resumed compliance with the ceasefire after attacking Hamas positions, which it blamed for attacks on Israeli soldiers. According to the civil defense in Gaza, 45 people were killed in the attacks.
Trump said the alleged violation of the ceasefire may not have been initiated by the Hamas leadership, but by individual rebels within the movement, and described the situation as resolvable within the existing rules.
