China has approved the TikTok agreement. The US expects further progress
According to a statement by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the United States and China have moved one step closer to reaching an agreement on the sale of TikTok.
China has provisionally agreed to a solution that could end the long-running dispute over the ownership and security of the popular video app.
Although Bessent did not provide any details, he indicated that the agreement was finalized during the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kuala Lumpur and that further progress is expected in the coming months.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce confirmed its willingness to continue negotiations with the United States.
This move follows a period of tension and concern in the US over the possible misuse of American users' data by the Chinese company ByteDance, which owns TikTok.
