Zakharova: Tokyo has slowed down relations, peace talks are frozen
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated on Thursday that any dialogue with Japan on a peace treaty could only begin once Tokyo abandoned its course, which Moscow described as “anti-Russian.”
Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova added that it was Japan's current policy that had led bilateral cooperation to a dead end.
Russia, the main successor state to the Soviet Union, and Japan have never signed a peace treaty that would formally end their hostility during World War II.
